Psyttoma van Achterberg and Li, 2013: 74-76 in: Li et al. (2013). Type species: Opius latilabris Chen and Wang, 2005 (original designation).

Type locality of type species: China, Hubei, Shennongjia, Honghua; holotype female in Beneficial Insects Laboratory, Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University, Fuzhou.

Valid genus.

Psyttoma was proposed for opiine species that somewhat resemble Psyttalia in general appearance, including the long ovipositor with sharply pointed hypopygium, but differ from Psyttalia by having a midpit on the mesoscutum, an unsculptured precoxal sulcus and an elevated scutellum.
