Euryproctini Thomson, 1883

Introduction
The tribe Euryproctini contains those ctenopelmatine genera in which the glymma is absent and the ovipositor has a subapical notch. The loss of a glymma is a derived featured within the Ctenopelmatinae, but the Ctenopelmatini, Pionini, and Westwoodiini all contain a few genera in which the glymma is absent or nearly so. The glymma is also absent in the Seleucini. Nearly all euryproctines lack the elevated ridge on the second metasomal tergite extending between the spiracle and the anterior margin that characterizes the Ctenopelmatini. Euryproctines also lack the tyloid on the first flagellomere that characterizes westwoodiines, scolobatines, and perilissines. Pionines have a more needle-like ovipositor that lacks the subapical notch. As noted by both Townes (1970) and Gauld (1997), euryproctines tend to have a relatively long, slender first flagellomere (relative to the second flagellomere) but this is more evident in some genera, such as Hadrodactylus, than in others.
