notes: Lateral compression is throughout the interantennal process. Unlike in state 2 however, the compression does not end behind the dorsal carinae of shield but continues forward over carina onto the face. (not to be confused with the median longitudinal carina of the shield), this forward projection is directly linked to the interantennal process, and not a separate carina. |
coded examples: Metopius (Peltocarus) croceicornis, Metopius (Peltocarus) dentatus |
2: Laterally compressed not extending onto facial shield |
