Aganaspis daci (Weld)
Remarks
Aganaspis daci was originally described in Trybliographa (Weld 1951) and much of the historical data on its biology, tephritid host relationships, and use in biological control are published under this generic name.
Diagnosis and Relationships
Aganaspis daci has distinctly setose eyes (more noticeable in the female), whereas the species of Aganaspis native to the Neotropics do not. This is one of the easiest ways to recognize A. daci in those areas of the New World where it has been introduced against tephritid pests.

Biology / Hosts
Different aspects of the basic biology of A. daci were studied in the laboratory associated with programs directed against Bactrocera dorsalis (Hendel) in Hawaii (Clausen et al. 1965) and Anastrepha suspensa (Loew) in Florida (Nuñez-Bueno 1982).
Biological Control
Introduced to and established in Florida (Glenn and Baranowski 1987, Baranowski et al. 1993).
