Bracon celer Szépligeti
Description
As noted by Silvestri, who first reared it in South Africa (Silvestri 1914) and Eritraea (Silvestri 1914b), Bracon celer is a color-variable species.
Biology / Hosts
Until recently the olive fly, Bactrocera oleae (Rossi), was its only known host. It has also been reared from coffee-infesting medfly in Kenya (Wharton et al. 2000).
Biology and Behavior
Bracon celer parasitizes third instar larvae of Bactrocera oleae (Neuenschwander 1982). Additional work on the biology of this species was published by Sime et al. (2006).
